If you are perched on a ledge
Between the truth and everything else,
You will need to make a choice.
You cannot balance on that slim edge forever.
It will be interesting to see what sense you make of the whole thing
And which side you will land on
And who will be there with you when you do.
When the current of rumour rushes to engulf you,
You may catch yourself floating in your own triviality
Or sinking to new depths.
Or maybe
You’ll be blessed with the sense to lift above it all,
Like the baby swallow testing its wings,
To fly up and up and up.
